Holiday in the Villa Chelona in Xiropigado on the Peloponnese, Greece, is something very special. The house, middle of an olive grove, is a relaxing retreat away after a hot sunny day on the beach, away from the hustle and bustle and night life of a town, and a homely, comfortable place to stay with plenty of atmosphere on cooler days.

The panoramic view from the patio, as well as the kitchen window, is overwhelming. The gulf of Argolis, Nafplio in the distance as well as the island of Spetses. Nafplio, said to be the most beautiful town in Greece with its historic core, is only a 30 min drive away. The town of Argos offers plenty of shopping opportunities, and is a 20 minute drive away and Astros with its large sandy beaches is also a 20 minute drive away. The village of Xirapigado has two small supermarkets for most essentials and a variety of taverns and kafenions, most of which are right by the seafront/beach.

"Chelona" means “tortoise” in Greek. There are wonderful marginated tortoises in the region and this  has inspired to name the house.

Famous, antique sights to see within reach (day trips) are Epidaurus, Mykenes, Mistras as well as Lerna.
